1. I am qualified. I have a Masters in ESL, and a PhD in International Teacher Education. Additionally I have post-doctoral work in Islamic studies and Intercultural Communication.
2. I am experienced. 40 years experience in the field of education, and more than half has been overseas.
3. I "look good"! Having a PhD on your staff impresses your customers, and is a great selling point. I also have some tricks I use with students when visiting classes that make your staff look really good. (Happy parents are generous parents.)
4. I "feel good"! I got over the ego trip of being a "classroom god" years ago. I only care about the students advancement and happiness. I hope this comes across to students and teachers alike.
What does this mean?
I have finally figured out what it takes to be a good teacher, but I'm not content to sit back and coast. I want to pass on to a whole new generation of teachers what I have learned and how to be better at their jobs. For the past few years, in various places, I've done this, and it works. And it makes me happy. 'Nuf said?
